Use as a cold pack
Place in the freezer for a couple of hours or until frozen. The gel ice packs can remain cold for up to 2 hours at room temperature.
The R2F luxury cold pack is tough and long lasting. Effective for the relief from muscular pain.
Use as a hot pack
It can be used as a hot pack for relief of muscular aches and pains including back and neck pain by placing in the microwave for approximately 30 seconds or 1 minute if already frozen (times may vary depending on microwave).
Or placed in water, bring to the boil then remove from heat and leave in the hot water for 4 minutes.

Re-useable gel packs vs Instant ice packs?
Instant ice packs are best for emergency first aid where a normal cold pack is not available. Re-useable gel ice packs like the R2F luxury ice pack are ideal for regular use where cold therapy needs to be applied as part of a treatment and rehabilitation programme.
How long should I apply cold for?
Cold packs can be applied for around 15 minutes depending on the injury and patient. It is usually recommended to place a wet tea towel or cold wrap between the pack and the skin to prevent ice burns.
How often should I apply the cold pack?
Take advice from your physiotherapist first, but in general cryotherapy or ice can be applied every hour or two in the initial stages where swelling or inflammation needs to be reduced. In the later stages of treatment 3 times a day may be more appropriate. Some injuries

I much prefer this type of ice pack to a clear plastic gel type. It is more comfortable and easy to mould and very convenient to keep in the fridge.

I’m more than happy with the hot/cold pack! I received the pack rapidly as per the norm from Return 2 Fitness….. I expected a tiny cheap pack that I could use up to London Marathon then bin as it would have probably give up by then. What I received was a reasonably sized branded pack that was nicely finished with no sharp edges etc. I threw it straight in the freezer and forgot about it. After one of my long training runs my ITB issue was flaring up so it got the pack and applied it straight to my knee. Due to the material used in the pack I didn’t get the normal “ice burn” when placed next to my skin. After a short while I simply wrapped the pack in the t-shirt I’d used on the run, placed it on the knee and put my feet up and watched TV! Over an hour later it was still cold. I’m still yet to use it hot, but for the price my only regret was not buying more.
