What is a Bruised Heel?

A pad of fat known as the calcaneus protects the heel bone. Repeated pounding of the heel can cause the fat pad to be pushed up the side of the heel leaving less of a protective layer causing heel pain. This reults in a bruised heel, or as it is sometimes known, a 'Policeman's Heel'

Heel spur

Please see the Virtual Sports Injury Clinic for more information on how to treat a Bruised Heel and other forms of heel pain.
