Which products are suitable for a Rotator Cuff Injury?
The rotator cuff are a group of four relatively small muscles which surround the shoulder joint. They play an important role in shoulder stability and rotating the shoulder joint. Tears to any of these muscles are quite common, especially in sports involving overhead activities such as throwing.
As with any muscle tear, treatment should begin with applying ice or another form of cold therapy as soon as possible. The Coldone shoulder wrap is excellent for cooling the whole shoulder joint. Its benefits include being clean and easy to use, staying in place so that you don't have to and compressing the joint, which is also an important part of injury first aid. Current recommendations for applying ice are to apply for 15 minutes at a time, every 3-4 hours for the first 2-3 days.
You may also want to wear a shoulder support to further compress the area when not icing. This will help with healing and provide support to prevent further injury. The LP738 shoulder support will allow enough movement to complete your daily activities and rehabilitation exercises whilst providing support and compression to the area.
Once pain free, strengthening exercises can begin. These should be light to start with and should always be painless to perform. Resistance bands are a great place to start. Resistance bands are stretchy lengths of latex which can be used to provide resistance to shoulder movements. They are available in different strengths from light to extra heavy and are sold by the meter or by the roll.
