Which products are suitable for Tennis Elbow?

Tennis elbow is caused by repetitive stress to the tendons of the wrist extensor muscles, just below the elbow. There are several products available which may help to ease your symptoms.

The Coldone elbow wrap is ideal for reducing pain and any inflammation present at the joint. The whole wrap is placed in the freezer until it is needed. It is then wrapped around the elbow and stays in place, allowing you to move about whilst icing the elbow. When finished, it can go straight back in the freezer, ready for next time! Coldone wraps are a clean, quick and easy alternative to traditional cold packs.

You may find a tennis elbow clasp or support useful when completing daily tasks. A tennis elbow (epicondylitis) clasp is a plastic brace which fits around your arm, just below the elbow. It works by applying pressure to the affected tendon which helps to absorb some of the shock exerted on the tendon as well as increasing blood flow to the area to aid healing.

An alternative to the clasp is one of our tennis elbow braces. these are softer, neoprene style supports, which have an additional strap that can be tightened to apply pressure to the tendons, in the same way that the clasp does. The LP701 is a short support whereas the McDavid 485 covers the elbow joint.

Once pain has decreased and you have entered the rehabilitation stage, resistance bands can be an excellent tool in strengthening the wrist extensors. These are stretchy lengths of latex which can be used to provide resistance against wrist movements. This acts to strengthen the muscles affected by tennis elbow. Resistance bands come in varying strengths although the resistance of each band can be altered by shortening or lengthening the section used. They are available by the roll or by the meter.
