Which wobble board is for me?

What's the difference between a wobble board, a rocker board and a wobble cushion?

  • A rocker board allows movement in two directions only. This makes them easier to master than a wobble board and so are suitable for beginners.
  • A wobble board moves in all directions, making it more difficult as it has a smaller base to balance on.
  • A wobble cushion is an inflated disc which you stand on. It works differently to wobble and rocker boards as it doesn't actually move, making it a safer option for absolute beginners and those with very poor balance.

Which size board should I get?

  • The smaller the board, the more difficult it is to master!
  • 50 cm boards are suitable for beginners, 40 cm boards are for intermediate to advanced levels.
  • Adding arm movements or knee bends can challenge your balance further once simple balancing has been mastered and so there are always ways of progressing, whichever board you opt for.

Which material board should I get?

  • The plastic wobble board is suitable for home use and is strong enough to support most weights.
  • However the wooden boards are more hard-wearing and long lasting, making them suitable for more regular and continued use.

What about adjustable boards?

  • Adjustable boards such as the plastic board and the wobble and rocker combination board are excellent for people who wish to progress their balance skills.
  • Both allow you to progressively increase the difficulty of the exercise by simply adjusting or changing the base.
