The McDavid 436R achilles tendon strap is designed to reduce the strain on the achilles tendon by changing the angle the tendon attaches to the heel and therefore altering how the forces are transmitted through the tendon. In addition it acts as a damper for the forces going through the tendon in the same way a finger damps vibrations on a guitar string.

It is suitable for mild to moderate achilles tendon injuries such as achilles tendinitis / tondinosis.
